的經典名曲，Fiona Apple、Rufus Wainwright、Suede…等一票人都曾經翻唱過。我很喜歡這首曲子，所以試著譯了一下它的歌詞。針對詞裡那句難解的梵文「Jai guru deva om」，我參閱數個國外網站與論壇，得到個別字義的解釋如下：Jai，向xx致敬；Guru，導師/精神領袖；Deva，神；Om，宇宙的震動。據說這句梵文是John Lennon和George Harrison去印度度假時，一位印度教的導師（Maharishi）送給他的祈禱文（Mantra，也就是「真言」）。另有一說是，送這句真言給Lennon的印度教導師每天在冥想時，都有一位名叫Dev的導師（New Age的說法就是「高靈」囉！）現身指導，因此他便以Jai guru deva om做為祈禱文，以示對恩師的崇敬，至於om則是印度教禱文中常見的結束語，目的是希望能夠和宇宙共鳴。我猜這個om字其實就是「六字大明咒」（唵嘛呢叭咪哞om-ma-ni-pad-me-hum）裡的「唵」。據說頌持此咒所產生的聲音頻率，在它的發聲共鳴處可以帶動內氣形成迴路，與身體經絡共振，長久下來還可打通任督二脈，因此六字大明咒也有「宇宙共振頻率」的解釋。綜合各家說法，我決定將它「Jai guru deva om」譯為「向天上的導師致敬，願能和宇宙共鳴」。嗯，跟著多唱幾次搞不好也能提升到「天人合一」的境界。嘿嘿！
